Representatives of 11 cities and municipalities in Serbia signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the implementation of the first phase of the project of usage of RES in district heating systems in Serbia. The project value is 40.5 million euros.
The Government of Serbia, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs of Switzerland (SECO) signed the memorandum with representatives of local self-governments.
Today, Serbia produces 37 GWh of thermal energy from renewable sources. It is expected that after realization of this project worth 40.5 million euros, the RES share increases about 197 GWh in the total energy consumption.
Projects are to be implemented within the next four years.
