In the period 2019-2021, the sector of creative industries achieved a share of 5.8-6.3% in the GDP of Serbia, while in the period 2016-2023, the number of employees in the sector increased by 37%, and the total export by as much as 81%. In 2021, this sector accounted for 2.5% of Serbia's total exports, the Faculty of Economics in Belgrade announced after conducting research in the mentioned period.
According to the criterion of the share in the GDP, the sector of knowledge-based economies is at the share level of the sector of financial activities and at the same share level as the construction sector, announced the Office for Information Technologies and eGovernment.
When it comes to the export of products of creative industries in 2021, the growth of 81% is registered compared to 2016. Compared to 2019, the nominal growth of the total export of the sector is as much as 14%. The share of the creative industry in the total export of Serbia in 2021 was 2.5%, that is, over 648 million dollars.
