Bear in mind that there are many more investment opportunities and projects, i.e. niches that are not yet to be popular or developed, but these outlined above currently lead the way in terms of potential and interest among the investors, especially the ones caring about the sustainability issue. Furthermore, these are the areas that support sustainable development, which was the idea of the above mentioned Map, other areas/sectors that are left out currently do not fall entirely or in major part into sustainable development policy.
Regarding the current investor landscape in the Serbian market, and bearing in mind the data available at the website of National Bank of Serbia, a significant portion originates from various countries. Notably, the Netherlands accounts for the largest share at 42.1%, followed by China at 13.3%, Great Britain at 8.2%, Austria at 7.5%, and Cyprus at 7.4%. It is worth noting that a substantial influx of investments from the Netherlands can be attributed to the advantageous tax incentives, leading some foreign investors to channel their investments through Dutch subsidiaries, despite the parent company being headquartered elsewhere.
Bearing all of the above in mind, and knowing that Serbia is a leader of the Western Balkans region in terms of attracting new foreign direct investments, Serbia continues to position itself as a strong player in all areas of business, attracting high profile capital investments and raising its image as a new haven for investors seeking to expand their business on the territory of Western Balkans and beyond.
